Markets were generally trading on the edge for the past week given the lack of bullish factors as investors were looking towards this week’s US Jackson Hole Symposium for more signs of US economic health before adding on more risk assets exposure. All hands on deck
Asian stocks took a tumble with Chinese stocks leading the way down after news of Chinese Evergrande bankruptcy filing spooked fears of further contagion effects on the Chinese broader economy.
Despite bankruptcy news being an eventual inevitable conclusion given its default and insolvency since 2021, markets were nevertheless weighed by negativity.
European stocks were caught in the US and Asian stocks slid and were also broadly in the red.
